Krav Maga Kit Essentials
So you have just started training in Krav Maga, a full contact self-defense system invented by the Israeli army, and you are looking for Krav Maga Kit essentials. There are certain kits that you have to buy to get the most out of a Krav Maga class. Normally, the more sets you have, the harder you can go and the more contact you can make in class.
Here is the Krav Maga Bristol club the Bristol Kit’s essential kit list:
Top 5 essential kit for Krav Maga
- Boxing gloves or Muay Thai gloves
- mouth protector
- Shin guards
- MMA gloves
It is famous that “there are no rules on the street” and in Krav Maga Shop we train to aim soft and vulnerable parts of the body during an attack. We can condition some parts of the body to take strikes, such as the body and legs, and we can improve our ability to take head shots through improved posture, positioning, footwork, timing and spar experience. However, there are parts of the body that are difficult to condition, such as the groin, throat, and eyes. Krav Maga students learn to attack both the groin and other parts of the body and as such, we must get proper protection for this sensitive area!
There are two types of head protection for both men and women. The first is built into a sweat-transporting compression short, such as Under armour and the second is essentially a Jock belt. Personally, I believe that the Jock belt is the best, you would like to wear it with slip and I also use a sweat-transporting pair of compression shorts under mine. The Jock belts are usually the cheapest, but they keep everything tucked away and nice and safe.
Sparring is an essential part of Krav Maga, it gives you the opportunity to work on your timing, distance, footwork, head movements and also increase your ability to take a few turns. You need a good set of gloves, I recommend Krav Maga Gloves and get them with Velcro fasteners.
Now for gloves you don’t go for the absolute cheapest that you can get, these below are still pretty cheap, but will take you a while.

Or if you have a few pounds left and would like to go for the best type of kit (which is still fairly cheap), then you can opt for a few of the better brands such as krav maga gear.
We use krav maga shin guards for sparring because they suit us best. You will want a shin protector that covers both the foot and the shin. And I would avoid the shin guards of the MMA sleeve type, because they take ages to turn on and off. Krav Maga Shop sessions are quite fast and you switch between training with kit (for safety) and training without kit (for realism).
Krav Maga Gloves are very useful for providing adequate protection for your hands (and the face of your partners) during ground fighting sessions. You can use boxing gloves, but they are a bit cumbersome on the floor and you want to stand up for waving and grabbing, so you need some finger movements! The best pair I have ever used are Krav Maga Gear but you can also buy a pair of cheaper ones.
